Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech condemns actions of National Council for TV and Radio for oppression against UkrLive TV channel

Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech has blamed the actions of National Council for TV and Radio, describing them as oppression against UkrLive TV channel.

During the session on November 4, the National Council for TV and Radio of Ukraine appointed the urgent check of the medium due to the statement made by experts in the studio. This illegal decision is the first step to the closure of the TV channel.

Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech takes such actions of the government as nothing but continuation of rude policy of the President against the unwelcome media.

Head of the Foundation for Protection of Freedom of Speech Hanna Herman commented on the urgent check of UkrLive TV channel by the National Council, claiming that the real freedom of speech doesn’t have a slightest chance during the rule of this government.

“Zelensky’s acting government (which he impersonates and, thus, is responsible for all of its actions) has once again confirmed the obvious: Zelensky’s Ukraine is definitely not the democratic country. It became the hostage of the coincidence that became fatal for Ukraine: the money of the oligarch who decided to turn Ukraine into his own villein service, with the addition of cosmopolitical “material” that he owned. Since this “material” became totally unfit for taking Ukraine out of the deep crisis, where the previous president tossed it into, this “material” resorted to the path of least resistance. Unfortunately, lots of our people still but the government’s populism, when the solution of our domestic problems does not lie with the government, but with the external forces that Ukraine finds profitable to support as the anti-Russian project”, Herman said.
